Ivory Bill Set For Hearing

The bill to ban trade in ivory and rhino horn, Senate Bill 913, has been set for a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem (check inside the main entrance for the hearing room). You can find the text of the bill (and other information) here: https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2015R1/Measures/Overview/SB913. You can also find a link to members of the Committee and their contact information. One member of the Committee, Senator Sara Gelser of Corvallis, was endorsed and supported by Humane Oregon in the last election. You can help support Senate Bill 913 by contacting all members of the Committee and urging them to support the bill, and to oppose any exceptions that would undermine enforcement.
