Humane Oregon is changing its name to Humane Voters Oregon.
Since our founding in 2014, we have worked to give animals a greater voice in Oregon's political process and elections - by endorsing and contributing to the campaigns of animal-friendly candidates, by advocating for animal-friendly legislation (and against legislation that would be harmful to animals) and by publishing records of how elected officials vote on issues affecting animals.
We have made great progress, but we we also have encountered some challenges, one of them being our name. As we gained more exposure, we found that our name often failed to clearly communicate our focus on advocacy in Oregon's political process and elections. By adding the word "Voters," we hope to communicate that more effectively. We will implement this change in the coming weeks, including by changing our website address to humanevotersoregon.org (although our current address will continue to link to the new site for a limited time).
Although our name is changing, our goals and activities are not. We will continue our work to improve life for animals in Oregon - from pets to farm animals to wildlife - by working with our supporters to engage in Oregon's political process and elections.
