Still Time to Register for In-District Wildlife Lobby Day

Please join us the week of January 20 for In-District Wildlife Lobby Day. Humane Voters Oregon and its co-sponsors will schedule a single meeting that week with each legislator, in each legislator's district, so you and others in the same district can meet with your legislators (one senator and one representative) on their (and your) home turf. After you register, we will let you know the specific days, times and locations for your meetings. We will also hold a webinar to give you more information on the issue we are asking participants to discuss with their legislators.

This year we are teaming-up with the Audubon Society of Portland, the Humane Society of the United States, Oregon Wild, and WildEarth Guardians and asking participants to advocate for a bill to ban organized contests in which people compete to kill the most coyotes. Believe it or not, these contests still occur in Oregon, but we expect one of our legislative champions -- Representative Brad Witt from Clatskanie -- to introduce a bill in 2020 to ban these contests. A similar bill was introduced in the 2019 legislative session but, despite overwhelming support, it fell victim to end-of-session partisan deal making.

So please continue to turn your passion to protect Oregon’s wildlife into action by taking part in In-District Wildlife Lobby Day and helping ensure that Oregon bans coyote-killing contests once and for all.

Thank you!
