Ballots and Voters' Pamphlets for the November 3 general election are arriving in mailboxes now. Make a plan to vote and use our resources to help you vote for candidates who care about humane treatment of animals.

Humane Voters Oregon has endorsed many of the candidates running for state and local office. We based our endorsements on candidates' responses to our endorsement questionnaire, their legislative scorecards on issues affecting animals, and our experience working with them if they hold elected office now or have held office in the past. All of our endorsed candidates completed our endorsement questionnaire. This year, our questionnaires asked about issues including licensing of pet breeders, humane management of human-wildlife conflicts, cat declawing and confined animal feeding operations.

You can learn more about incumbent candidates for the Oregon Legislature by reviewing our legislative scorecards. Our scorecards show how legislators voted each legislative sessions on issues affecting animals and how they have scored throughout their time in office.

Election Day, November 3, is the last day to return your ballot. You can return it to a ballot drop box, directly to your County Elections Office, or by mail. Ballots that are mailed must be postmarked by election day.

Thank you considering animal welfare when you vote!

You can also help us support animal-friendly candidates by donating to our political action committee, Humane Voters Oregon PAC (click the top "Donate" button on this page). We use money contributed to our PAC to support candidates in the name of animal welfare. That helps animal-friendly candidates get elected. It also helps make animals a higher priority when proposed new laws are being considered. Your contribution may also qualify for a tax credit of up to $50 for an individual or $100 on a joint return. (See our donation page for more information.)

Finally, you can help candidates think more about animal welfare by telling those we endorsed in your area that you value our endorsement. You can generally find contact information for a candidate's campaign with a quick internet search. (Be sure to use the contact informaton for their campaign office, not their government office, because they are required to keep government business and campaign business separate.)

Thank you again for helping us make animal welfare a more important issue in Oregon's political process and elections!
